How it works:

Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, stopping bacterial growth
Effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
Used in severe respiratory and skin infections
Suitable when other antibiotics are ineffective

Patients with community-acquired and hospital-acquired pneumonia
Complicated skin and soft tissue infections
Infections caused by MRSA or VRE

Treatment of pneumonia (community- and hospital-acquired), complicated skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible strains, including MRSA and VRE

Take orally with or without food, typically twice daily. Treatment duration depends on the type and severity of infection, usually between 10 and 21 days, as prescribed by a physician.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Linezolid or any component
Concurrent use of MAO inhibitors
Uncontrolled hypertension
Thyrotoxicosis
Carcinoid syndrome

Side effects:

Headache, nausea
Diarrhoea
Blood disorders (anaemia, thrombocytopenia)
Altered taste
Hypersensitivity reactions
