How it works:
Anastrozole inhibits the aromatase enzyme, which converts androgens into estrogens. Lowering estrogen levels helps prevent the growth and progression of hormone-dependent breast cancer cells.

Recommended for:

Postmenopausal women with hormone-dependent breast cancer
Progressive or metastatic breast cancer
Prevention of recurrence after surgery or radiotherapy
As part of combination anticancer therapy

Hormone-dependent breast cancer in postmenopausal women
Metastatic breast cancer
Prevention of recurrence after primary treatment

Taken orally, with or without food, with water. The usual dosage is one tablet daily. Treatment duration is determined by an oncologist and may last for several years.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to anastrozole or excipients
Premenopausal women
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Concomitant use with oestrogen-containing medicines
Severe renal or hepatic impairment (with caution)

Fatigue
Nausea, abdominal pain
Joint and bone pain
Osteoporosis with prolonged use
