How Does the Product Work? Who Is It Recommended For?

Mechanism of Action:
Arsenic trioxide exhibits antiproliferative activity, inducing apoptosis and differentiation in malignant cells. It affects mitochondrial function and intracellular signaling pathways involved in the survival of leukemic cells.

Recommended For:
Indicated for patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), particularly those with t(15;17) translocation and/or PML/RAR-α gene, who demonstrate sensitivity to arsenic-based therapies.

Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), relapsed or refractory
May be used in combination regimens or as monotherapy
Can be administered when all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA)-based therapies are not suitable or tolerated

Administered as a slow intravenous infusion
Recommended dose: 0.15 mg/kg body weight per day
Duration depends on treatment protocol: induction of remission followed by consolidation or maintenance
Infusion duration: 1 to 2 hours under medical supervision
Not for bolus injection

To be prescribed and administered only by a hematologist-oncologist in a hospital setting.

Contraindications:

Known hypersensitivity to arsenic or any component of the formulation
Severe cardiac arrhythmias, including QT interval prolongation
Pregnancy and breastfeeding (unless life-threatening condition warrants)

Possible Side Effects:

Leukocytosis, hyperglycemia
Differentiation syndrome (in APL patients)
QT prolongation and arrhythmias
Electrolyte disturbances (hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia)
Nausea, headache, skin rashes

In case of severe symptoms, stop infusion immediately and consult a oncologist.
