How it works:
Binds to oestrogen receptors in breast tissue, blocking their activation
Slows or stops the growth of hormone-sensitive tumours
Reduces recurrence risk
Can be used in prevention for high-risk individuals
Recommended for:
Women with hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer
Men with hormone-dependent cancers
Post-operative, post-chemotherapy or post-radiotherapy patients
Women at high risk of developing breast cancer
Hormone-sensitive breast cancer, prevention of recurrence and metastasis, and risk reduction in high-risk women.
The tablets should be taken orally with water. Dosage is determined by the physician based on disease stage, tumour sensitivity and overall treatment plan.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to tamoxifen
History of thromboembolic disorders
Pregnancy and lactation
Severe liver dysfunction
Side effects:
Hot flashes, headaches, excessive sweating
Nausea, menstrual irregularities
Thromboembolic events
Visual disturbances
Elevated liver enzymes
