How the product works:
Glibenclamide stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells
Metformin decreases hepatic glucose output and improves insulin sensitivity
Combined action provides better glycemic control
Recommended for:
Adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus
When diet and exercise alone are insufficient
When dual therapy is clinically indicated
Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults
Poorly controlled blood glucose on monotherapy
Part of combination diabetes treatment
Taken orally during or after meals. Dosage is individualised by a healthcare provider, usually starting with a low dose and increasing gradually to achieve optimal glycemic control.
Contraindications:
Type 1 diabetes
Diabetic ketoacidosis, pre-coma or coma
Severe renal or hepatic impairment
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Alcoholism or acute alcohol intoxication
Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication
Side effects:
Hypoglycaemia
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort
Diarrhoea or constipation
Metallic taste
Elevated liver enzymes
Skin rashes or itching
Lactic acidosis (rare but serious)
