ISUVAZ 100 is used for the treatment of certain serious invasive fungal infections in adults, primarily invasive aspergillosis and invasive mucormycosis.

Isavuconazole inhibits lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase, an enzyme involved in ergosterol biosynthesis. Reduced ergosterol production disrupts the fungal cell membrane and inhibits fungal growth.

The medicine is intended for systemic antifungal therapy and should be used only when a fungal infection has been confirmed or is strongly suspected by a healthcare professional.

Isavuconazole is taken orally with or without food, exactly as prescribed by a physician. The standard adult regimen includes a loading dose of isavuconazole 200 mg every 8 hours for the first 48 hours, followed by 200 mg once daily. Because each capsule contains 100 mg of isavuconazole, the number of capsules taken per dose is determined by the prescribed dose. Capsules should be swallowed whole and should not be chewed, crushed, opened, or dissolved. Treatment duration depends on the type and severity of infection, the patient's immune status, and clinical response.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to isavuconazole, isavuconazonium, or any component of the medicine.
• Familial short QT syndrome.
• Concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 or CYP3A5 inhibitors when the combination is contraindicated.
• Concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 or CYP3A5 inducers.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding require individual medical assessment.
• Severe liver disease requires particular caution and medical supervision.
