How it works:
Inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption in renal tubules
Promotes increased excretion of water, sodium, chloride, and potassium
Rapidly reduces fluid volume in the body
Improves fluid elimination in congestive heart failure
Recommended for:
Patients with chronic heart failure
Oedema caused by kidney or liver disease
Blood pressure control
Emergency fluid retention and pulmonary oedema
Oedema associated with heart, kidney or liver failure, hypertension, and acute fluid retention.
Tablets should be taken orally on an empty stomach with adequate water. Dosage is individually adjusted by a physician based on condition severity and response.
Contraindications:
Allergy to furosemide or sulfonamides
Renal failure with anuria
Severe electrolyte imbalance
Hepatic coma
Dehydration
Side effects:
Dizziness, hypotension
Electrolyte imbalance (hypokalaemia, hyponatraemia)
Thirst, dry mouth
Impaired kidney function
Nausea, vomiting
