How it works:
Acitretin is a systemic retinoid derived from vitamin A
Regulates differentiation and proliferation of skin cells
Reduces inflammation, scaling, and hyperkeratosis
Improves skin appearance in severe and relapsing skin conditions
Recommended for:
Patients with severe psoriasis (including erythrodermic and pustular types)
Ichthyosis, keratosis, lichen planus
When topical treatments are ineffective
Only under dermatologist supervision
Severe forms of psoriasis, including pustular and erythrodermic psoriasis. Congenital and acquired ichthyosis, keratinisation disorders, lichen planus, and other hard-to-treat skin conditions.
Take orally with food. Dosage is adjusted individually based on disease severity and patient response. Duration of treatment is determined by the physician. Avoid alcohol and vitamin A supplementation during treatment.
Contraindications:
Pregnancy and pregnancy planning
Breastfeeding
Liver or kidney diseases
Hypervitaminosis A
Hypersensitivity to retinoids
Side effects:
Dry skin, lips, eyes
Hair thinning
Elevated liver enzymes (ALT, AST)
Increased blood lipids
Headache, irritability, insomnia
