How it works:

  • Emtricitabine and tenofovir are nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) that block HIV replication.

  • Efavirenz is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) that enhances antiviral action.

  • The triple therapy ensures strong viral suppression and reduces the risk of resistance.

Recommended for:

  • Patients with HIV-1 infection

  • As part of combination antiretroviral therapy

  • For reducing viral load and improving CD4 counts

Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents as part of ART

Taken orally once daily, preferably at bedtime, with water. The exact dosage is prescribed by the physician depending on the patient’s condition and therapy regimen.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to any component

  • Concomitant use of contraindicated medicines with efavirenz

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding (unless prescribed by a physician)
