NEKSIUM 15 tabs. (Esomeprazole 40 mg)

GERD, peptic ulcer disease, erosive oesophagitis, gastritis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, NSAID-induced ulcer prevention, H. pylori eradication.

Take orally, preferably in the morning, 30–60 minutes before food, with water. Dosage is determined individually. Typical treatment duration ranges from 4 to 8 weeks depending on the diagnosis.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to esomeprazole or other PPIs
  
  
• Lactose intolerance (depending on formulation)
  
  
• Children (unless prescribed)
  
  
• Severe hepatic impairment (with caution)
  
  
• Concurrent use with nelfinavir or atazanavir
  
  

Side effects:

• Headache, dizziness
  
  
• Nausea, constipation or diarrhoea
  
  
• Abdominal pain
  
  
• Bloating
  
  
• Sleep disturbances
  
  
• Increased risk of GI infections (e.g. C. difficile)
  
  
• Hypomagnesemia with long-term use
  
  
• Elevated liver enzymes
