How it works:

Prucalopride selectively activates serotonin 5-HT4 receptors.
Stimulates bowel peristalsis and accelerates intestinal transit.
Effective for chronic constipation resistant to other laxatives.

Recommended for:

Adults with chronic constipation
Patients with poor response to conventional laxatives
Those requiring long-term therapy for gastrointestinal motility disorders

Chronic constipation in adults when laxatives are insufficient

Administered orally with water, preferably at the same time each day. The dosage and treatment duration are prescribed individually by a physician.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to prucalopride
Severe renal impairment
Intestinal perforation or obstruction
Inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis)
Severe hepatic impairment without dose adjustment

Side Effects:

Headache, dizziness
Diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea
Fatigue
Sleep disturbances
Allergic reactions (rash, itching)
Rarely: cardiac arrhythmia
