How it works:
Inhibits hepatitis B viral DNA polymerase
Reduces viral load and inflammation
Effective in patients with resistance to other nucleoside analogues
Slows liver damage and progression to cirrhosis
Recommended for:
Adults with chronic hepatitis B
Patients with resistance to lamivudine or other analogues
Those with impaired liver function
Prescribed only by a healthcare professional
Chronic hepatitis B
High HBV viral load
Resistance to other antiviral agents
Take orally on an empty stomach, usually once daily. Dosage and treatment duration are determined by a physician based on clinical and virological assessments.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to entecavir
Children under 18 years
Pregnancy and lactation
Severe renal impairment (dose adjustment required)
Side Effects:
Headache
Nausea
Fatigue
Elevated ALT and AST
Diarrhoea
Insomnia
Rare: lactic acidosis, hepatomegaly
