Sofosbuvir inhibits the NS5B RNA polymerase enzyme required for hepatitis C virus replication
Reduces viral load, helps achieve remission, and prevents disease progression

Recommended for:

Adult patients with chronic hepatitis C (genotypes 1–4)
Those receiving combination antiviral therapy (e.g., with Daclatasvir or Ribavirin)
Patients who are treatment-naïve or previously unresponsive

Chronic hepatitis C in adults
Co-infection with HIV (as part of combination therapy)
Patients with or without liver cirrhosis

The tablets are taken orally once daily, with or without food. Dosage and duration depend on the combination regimen and should strictly follow the treating physician’s instructions.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Sofosbuvir or excipients
Use in children
Pregnancy and lactation unless clearly indicated

Side effects:

Headache, fatigue
Nausea, insomnia
Anaemia, irritability (more common with Ribavirin)
Allergic reactions (rare)
