How it works:
Sofosbuvir inhibits the HCV NS5B RNA polymerase
Prevents replication of hepatitis C virus

Used in combination with agents such as daclatasvir, velpatasvir, or ledipasvir
Recommended for:
Adults with chronic hepatitis C infection
Suitable for patients with liver cirrhosis
Effective for HIV co-infected patients
Prescription-only under medical supervision
Treatment of chronic hepatitis C in adults as part of combination antiviral therapy.
One tablet is taken orally once daily, with or without food. Treatment duration is typically 12 weeks but may vary depending on the regimen and patient condition.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to sofosbuvir
Age under 18
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Concurrent use with strong P-gp inducers (e.g. rifampin, carbamazepine)
Side effects:
Headache
Fatigue
Nausea
Insomnia
Anaemia (when used with ribavirin)
