Entecavir is a nucleoside analogue that inhibits HBV DNA polymerase, blocking viral replication. It effectively lowers the viral load and helps preserve liver function.
Recommended for:
Patients with chronic hepatitis B
Individuals with detectable HBV DNA
Those at risk of cirrhosis
Patients with liver function impairment (with supervision)
Chronic hepatitis B infection in adults with compensated or decompensated liver disease.
Take orally on an empty stomach once daily, as directed by a healthcare provider. Long-term use may be required, along with liver function monitoring.
Hypersensitivity to entecavir
Use during pregnancy/lactation only if prescribed
Side effects: headache, fatigue, nausea, elevated liver enzymes, rare risk of lactic acidosis
