How it works: HONVAN suppresses testosterone production through oestrogen-like activity, blocking hormonal stimulation of prostate tumour cells. Fosfestrol reduces androgen levels, halting or slowing tumour growth.
Who it’s for:
– Men with hormone-sensitive prostate cancer
– Patients not suitable for surgical castration
– In cases of recurrent or advanced cancer, where oestrogen suppression is indicated
– For palliative treatment plans to control symptoms
– Hormone-dependent prostate cancer
– Metastatic prostate cancer
– Palliative care in advanced stages
HONVAN tablets are taken orally as prescribed by a doctor. Treatment usually begins with a high dose, followed by gradual reduction. Tablets are taken in divided doses throughout the day, with or without food. Duration depends on clinical response.
Contraindicated in severe liver dysfunction, thromboembolic events, cardiovascular disorders, bleeding, and hypersensitivity to oestrogens. Possible side effects include oedema, headache, gynecomastia, thrombosis, and hypertension. Close medical supervision and regular monitoring are necessary.
