Oxaliplatin is a third-generation platinum compound with potent cytotoxic activity.
Recommended for:
Use in combination chemotherapy (e.g., with 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin)
Patients with metastatic or progressive colorectal cancer
Adjuvant therapy post tumour resection
Administration only under oncologist supervision
Metastatic colorectal cancer
Localised colorectal cancer post-surgery
Other cancers as per oncologist’s decision
Administered intravenously via infusion. The dosage is based on body surface area and chemotherapy regimen. Often used alongside fluorouracil and leucovorin. Treatment is conducted in a hospital setting under medical supervision.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to oxaliplatin or other platinum compounds
Severe renal impairment
Bone marrow suppression
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Children under 18 (unless indicated)
Side Effects:
Neuropathy (tingling, numbness in limbs)
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea
Thrombocytopenia and leukopenia
Anaemia
Allergic reactions
Fatigue
