How It Works:
Imatinib inhibits BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase and other kinases, blocking the growth of malignant cells. It is a key agent in targeted therapy for specific cancers.
Recommended For:
Patients diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML)
Patients with unresectable or metastatic GIST
Individuals needing targeted therapy based on genetic mutation testing
Under supervision of a haematologist or oncologist
Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukaemia (Ph+ CML)
Gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST)
Ph+ acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL)
Myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases
Capsules should be taken orally with food and a full glass of water. The exact dosage is determined by the physician based on disease severity and patient tolerance.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Imatinib
Severe liver or kidney impairment
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Paediatric use unless specifically indicated
Side Effects:
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea
Edema (especially around eyes and limbs)
Skin rash, itching
Bone marrow suppression (anaemia, thrombocytopenia)
Elevated liver enzymes
